I was naked??
You ever have one of those dreams where you’re walking down the street totally naked?
Panicked. Exposed. Wondering how you got there and why no one told you?
I’m noticing that for a lot of people, that’s what life feels like right now. Maybe you’re not naked, but you are perhaps wondering how you got here?? Feeling like you’re sleepwalking through life?
If so, you’re not alone. We seem to be in an epidemic of just letting the wave of life carry us along, and never questioning it. We scroll. We drift. And only when the wave starts to pull us under do we finally wake up…but often too late.
We live in a time when independent, critical thinking is slipping away.
And when we stop thinking for ourselves, we become dangerously easy to manipulate.
Think about your own life.
You wake up. Check your phone. Scroll through feeds. Glance at the news.
You go to work, deal with emails, do what you’ve always done.
Until one day, you look around and think, “How did I get here?”
Maybe it’s a career you don’t love or a relationship you’re just tolerating. Maybe it’s a sense of unease you’ve learned to ignore.
We often land here because we fail to step out of the wave and ask, “Am I CHOOSING this or just accepting it?”
When you never ask, you never steer.
And one day, you wake up in the boat and realize you’re farther out to sea than you thought and the giant wave is coming!
Just look at what’s happening in schools right now.
Students are leaning so hard on AI to write that they’ve stopped doing the thinking part.
That’s what apathy looks like.
Not laziness. Not ignorance.
Just a shrug and a quiet surrender to “whatever.”
If you’ve ever felt like you’re riding a wave you didn’t choose, this is your wake-up call. Don’t wait until the wave begins to drown you.
Let this be the moment you decide to swim with intention.
We can’t afford to sleepwalk anymore.
Not as parents. Not as leaders. Not as humans.
The world doesn’t need more people who go with the flow. Ask yourself: what am I accepting by default? What would it look like to act from intention rather than drift?
It needs people willing to break from it.
