HELPLESSNESS IS NOT THE ABSENCE OF POWER, IT IS THE REJECTION OF IT.
I wrote about this in The Empowerment Revolution, and it seems to have struck a chord, so I wanted to say a bit more…
If you look up the word “helplessness,” you’ll find it defined as “the inability to help oneself.”
I challenge that definition.
Because what we often call “inability” is really UNWILLINGNESS.
The truth is the ability to help ourselves is built into our design. It’s in our DNA. What we lack isn’t capability, but connection to our own power, our own worth, our own authority.
Helplessness isn’t a state of incapacity. It’s a story we’ve accepted about what’s possible for us. It’s the moment we decide that someone else’s permission, love, or validation must come before our own action.
Being unable is circumstantial.
Being unwilling is energetic.
One is a wall.
The other is a locked door with the key already in your hand. To see the difference requires incredible courage and brutal honesty.
So, when you feel stuck, ask yourself:
“Am I truly unable right now… or am I unwilling to believe in my own power?”
That question — uncomfortable as it may be — is where every revolution begins.
Because you were never powerless.
You were just programmed to forget how powerful you really are.
